Would You Like to Create a Scene with Some Poultry?

Backyard Poultry Magazine and Nite Guard Solar are offering a contest for poultry lovers, landscape lovers, and photographers at any level of expertise. For this contest, you are asked to take a photo of some beautiful landscape, and to include poultry in the shot.

Of course, no animals can be harmed in the making of the scene, and as always, you'd need to keep it tasteful. Outside of this, the limits of your imagination are the primary boundary.

Photos will be judged by votes from the general public, so no other judging criteria is offered. If you have a sense of what is popular (you could potentially think in the realm of nicely done viral photos you may have seen on the Internet, for inspiration), then you would have a good idea of what direction to take with your entry.

Scenic Poultry Photography Contest

The only criteria stated for which locations are eligible to enter is "void where prohibited." Hence, it may be open to worldwide entries, though it might not. In the end, as per usual, it's your entry, so use your own best judgement.

One entry per contestant. Must be 13 or older to enter, void where prohibited. Deadline for submissions is December 17, 2014, last day to vote is December 21, 2014.

12 grand prizes are being given away of one retired rubber chicken, each, autographed by Svengoolie (Rich Koz), the host of Me-TV's Saturday night horror movie show. Each chicken was used in a show. One prize is being given away each month. Prize is valued at $10.

You must sign up for the newsletter when you enter, if you want your chance to win a signed rubber chicken. The rules state that the newsletter goes out on the first Friday of each month, so you won't need to be afraid of getting too many emails. Once you've signed up, you will still need to re-enter monthly to qualify for each month's giveaway.

Sweepstakes for City Chicks (or for Chicken Lovers Everywhere)

Mother Earth News has a comprehensive section on its website which covers the topic of "Community Chickens". "What's this?!", you might say. Well, in a nutshell, it has to do with the rising popularity of raising chickens in a city or other backyard setting.

Being a chicken lover myself, and having raised chickens in a farm setting in the past, I have found this to be quite an intriguing subject. Of course, being the sweepstaker that I am... lo and behold, what did I stumble across at Mother Earth News today but a sweepstakes to win the perfect setup for raising chickens in a backyard or patio garden scenario!

One lucky Grand Prize Winner will walk away with "The Pull It Coop", a combined coop and run valued at $2,195, that will house up to six chickens with style. This comes complete with indoor nest boxes and roost bar, and a wire mesh enclosed outdoor section for chickens to enjoy some fresh air and frolicking!

Unfortunately, there is some discrepancy in the rules, so the actual end date of this sweepstakes is unclear. The rules state that it is a long running sweepstakes that will end on December 31, 2010. However, it also states that a winner will be chosen on September 1, 2010 or within a reasonable time thereafter, so my suggestion is to enter early. This is a highly reputable Magazine, so I don't find it to be too much of a concern as I'm sure they will fix the error.
