Special Wednesday Contest!



Some contests and sweepstakes make an annual appearance. They become something to look forward to. Each year, the excitement builds, while waiting to see what this year's event will bring. Some of these include the "HGTV Dream Home," "Blog Cabin," and "Lay's Do Us a Flavor."

Today, a special Wednesday contest (with contests usually reserved for Sundays), brings another such annual event.

What is this event, you ask? Well, it's the Doritos Super Bowl ad contest! If you watch the Super Bowl, you'll inevitably see what fun and creative things the year's contestants have devised. It's a lot of fun to watch, yet, if you'd like your shot at it, now is your chance to enter!

For this contest, you are asked to create a video commercial of exactly 30 seconds in length, featuring Doritos brand tortilla chips (preferably in the red - Nacho Cheese, or blue - Cool Ranch, bag).

Doritos is offering contestants a "Toolkit" for use in creating these videos. The kit includes things like logos and shots of Doritos bags, music to use without infringing on anyone's copyright, video clips, and much more. Of course, these are only for use in this contest, and nothing more.

Videos will be judged based upon the following criteria:

Originality and Creativity – 40%
Adherence to Creative Assignment – 30%
Overall Appeal (to the general public) as a Doritos Super Bowl Ad – 30%

As always, your entry must be your own original work. Any people or animals in your video must have a signed release form, and all animals must be treated humanely. This is basically geared towards a family audience, so keeping this in mind should keep you on the right track. Copyright issues are avoided by not including anything that represents a logo other than Doritos, as well as by not using any famous architecture in any scene, and the like.

There will be 30 semi-finalists, then from these, 10 finalists will be chosen. One of these 10 finalists will win, as determined by votes from the general public. Of the remaining 9 finalists, sponsor will then choose one as the first prize winner.

Prizes are as follows:

* 20 semi-finalists will each receive $1,000 USD.

* 10 finalists will each receive a five night trip for two (January 28, 2015 – February 2, 2015) to the Super Bowl in Glendale, AZ, on February 1, 2015.

* 8 finalists will each receive $25,000 USD. Total ARV, including game trip package, $30,500.

* First prize winner will receive $50,000 USD. Total ARV, including game trip package, $55,500.

* Grand prize winner will receive $1,000,000 USD. Total ARV, including game trip package, $1,005,500.

The Grand Prize Winner will also receive the option to work on a creative project with Universal or its affiliated companies on a part-time independent contractor basis, with the details of such project to be determined at a later date, by Sponsor. Should GP winner accept, reasonable transportation costs will be reimbursed, up to $5,000. Upon successful completion of the project, GP winner will also receive a $50,000 consultancy fee.

Up to 10 submissions allowed per entrant. This contest is open to persons who have reached the age of majority in their country of residence, who are legal residents of Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, South Korea, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the 50 United States (including D.C. and Puerto Rico), with a valid Google YouTube account. Ends November 9, 2014.
