Tuesday Treats!

As I was glued to the weatherman's continuous report on the evening of this writing, I started thinking once again about my "shelter" systems in the basement. The storm was rolling into the area, and some places were really getting hit hard.

Weather sirens have already been sending us to shelter this season. And, although my previous home was necessarily and meticulously prepared for such emergencies, I have no complete system in the new home, yet.

My mind started to think about snacks and treats, in case we were in the basement for an extended time. First, I started thinking about storage, and what types of things would store well here. Then, I started thinking about all the wonderful treats I'd like to eat right then.

Next, I thought about snacking on all of these wonderful things, while watching the weatherman on TV, in the basement. Of course, I have no TV down there, yet. I do have an app, but that could run my phone battery out.

Still, the power would inevitably go out, as it generally does during the heavy storms in this area, and then I'd have only the snacks and treats. I'd eat them on the soft cushy chair next to my oil lamp.

It's Not Deja Vu, These Sweeps are All New!

Today's sweepstakes are from trusted sponsors that have been here before. Though you might have that feeling of deja vu, like you've entered these already, it's actually more like another chance to win. They are all fresh new sweeps to this site, ready for a new batch of winners.

If you play sweepstakes long enough, you will start to notice that a game is often not just a one-time thing. Many are an annual event, others may be quarterly, and some just seem to come out at random times.

Back in the Game!

Greetings, Everyone!

As you may have noticed, my birthday time off turned out to be much longer than I had anticipated. This was due to an internet issue that the company had difficulty figuring out. Eventually, they thought it might be the modem, so they said they'd send somebody out.

Well, it wasn't the modem. It turned out to be what the technician said was a 15 - 20 year old wire outside the house, that needed to be replaced.

I was so relieved to get it done. I had been a nervous wreck throughout the week. Among plenty of other reasons, I needed to be online for an all-day training session over the weekend, and the cable company was pushing it so close!

The HGTV Dream Home is Back!

The holidays are over, the new year has begun, and, it's time, once again, for the HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes! This sweepstakes truly gives one winner a dream come true.

I have been following this sweepstakes for at least ten years, probably more. Each year I enter quite regularly. Yet, I don't expect to win it. Still, I do dream about the win : )

I think, "Wow, would this be an exciting win!" Then, my thoughts turn to taxes, and closing costs, and all the other expenses associated with winning a two million dollar plus prize package that includes a home, and I doubt that I could really afford to win it. I would definitely take the cash prize option. I could still buy a really nice place, or expand the house we have, with $1,450,000!

Then I continue to think about this beautiful home... "Well, if I did win, I could at least say I owned it for a few minutes, before I had to turn it down and let someone else own this fabulous prize." Then, of course, my mind runs through all the possibilities. Could I sell it before the taxes were due? Would there be some way for me to leverage my assets in order to pay the costs associated with the win? Then, of course, my mind runs through all the associated possibilities...

In the mean time, I still love this sweepstakes. I love the suspense, while we wait to learn where it will be located. I love touring the home each year, through the virtual technology used on the site. I love seeing what designs their team has decided to use, and what colors, materials, and everything else they've come up with.

I love thinking about what I would do in the area that it's located, if it were mine. In the end, I always think the neighbors would look down on me, for becoming a part of their community by means of the big win. I would probably be snubbed. I'd be one happy woman in my multi-million dollar home, though, and I'd still have my wonderful family, so it really wouldn't matter!

Then, I come back to the same thing..."Nah, I'd still enjoy the cash prize, so much more!"
